We built a community hub for Centerburg's local business association
If you've spent any time in Centerburg, Ohio, you know the village punches well above its weight. There's a kolache bar on Main Street, a botanical perfumer, a BBQ joint with house-made sauces, and a cybersecurity firm all within a few blocks of each other. It's a genuinely interesting little town, and it deserves a platform that reflects that.
That's where HOBA comes in.
What is HOBA?
The Heart of Ohio Business Association is Centerburg's local business network. Their mission is straightforward: connect local businesses with each other and the community, promote events that drive foot traffic, and give small business owners a unified voice. Think of it as the engine behind "shop local" actually meaning something in a specific zip code.
They came to us needing a website that could grow with them. Something clean, easy to manage, and built to serve real people in a real community.
What we built
The site launched at hobacburg.com with four core features: a searchable member directory, an events calendar, a news and announcements section, and a simple membership inquiry form. Nothing flashy. Just a solid, fast platform that does exactly what a local business association needs it to do.
At launch, the directory already had 18 member businesses listed, covering everything from retail and food to insurance, realty, contracting, and photography. The directory is built to scale as HOBA keeps growing.
Why this kind of project matters to us
NS Media is based in Centerburg. This isn't a client we found through a lead form. HOBA is our community, and building this site was genuinely personal. We want Centerburg businesses to thrive, and having a central place for the community to find, follow, and support local businesses is a real step toward that.
It's also a good example of what we do best: take something that could be complicated and make it simple, clean, and useful. No bloat. No unnecessary features. Just a website that works.
